Yes, I guess that's the last time I blogged. Sorry about that! (Spoken to myself or my imaginary friend I'm speaking to.) Blogging is such a funny thing. I've gone through different blogging phases I guess. I started off by recipe sharing which led to starting my first blog site. And that was more of a form of entertainment for me. I'm a nurse, but who wants to hear about a nursing blog? B-O-R-I-N-G. Not me. I have lots of hobbies but I'm an expert at none of them. So it took on the form of journaling about me and my family. The occasional recipe thrown in there. But again.. I'm not a professional. I do not cook for a living nor do I create many recipes. I find that I'm inspired to sometimes try and alter recipes to my liking. So I don't take this stuff too seriously. But I do try to be genuine and ethical. I give credits where they are due and if I slip up and forget just let me know- it's an honest mistake I can assure you.
I left my first blog site because I was really rattled by people that were mean to my daughter and I found myself wanting to keep everything VERY private. I've always lived in small towns and have known just about the whole town it seems and so I've never had to deal with mean people before. And this was a learning experience for us all. I would have assumed that normal mean people would move on and find other drama to fulfill their needs after 6 months to a year. But oh no, we had a special kind of mean people! They never get tired of trying.
After a while I began to really miss that form of self-expression that blogging gives me. So I began a new blog. This one. This one shared slowly over time with a select few. This one was a little more involved than the first. The format I use now allows for me to have different pages, themes, etc. and became easier to use ,yet harder to do because the inspiration hasn't always just come to me. My biggest inspiration is my family and I hate to give too much of that information away having been burned before by social media. So I've spent a good deal of time on food and recipes. I am a foodie. I love eating out and having those great experiences with family and friends and I also love to attempt recreating those experiences at home because we live in a small town on a lake hours from big cities. I have to say... It does feel strange sometimes putting all of this information out into the blogosphere and then you get no response back. There have been times I think: Is this crazy? Am I being a narcissistic? Why would anyone reply?
And that's when I either decide to take a little break or forge ahead and ignore those voices telling me this is strange.
This fall I was at my son's apartment after a football game and got a reply on my Johnnie's Theta Sauce blog. And it was from someone who had obviously just came across this site while searching for a recipe. I've been in that person's shoes before when I too was trying to find the secret recipe for a sauce that I love! It made me smile. And then I got another. It's by far been my biggest hit on my site. I think that's cool. After all this time someone stumbles upon it like it's a new post. So it's given me hope! I won't be discouraged by the lack of readers or non- replies. I have friends who've encouraged me all along and I love that, but I think it is really neat for someone I've never met to read my blog and think it's worth their time to comment.
I really need to re- attempt that sauce. For one thing I FINALLY ran out! I had buckets of that stuff! I need to work on a smaller batch this time.
I've also decided to kill two birds with one stone (so to speak) and use a 365 project for photography to help me with my photography skills and to also aid in blogging. So I don't feel like a flop if I'm not out there making something new and exciting every other day. I'm going to follow a 365 project that has been around for a while. They provide the outline for you to follow for your subject matter. This week they are doing along the roadside. But I am going to start on January 1st. I don't know what their subject will be yet.
And I also have a recipe to share! So, I'll be back! And I will also be letting you know how some of my other projects have turned out. It's fun to look back at what I've tried to do. I've had some dismal failures, failure to launches, and believe it or not some success! ha!
Life is good!
