Actually, this hasn't been too bad of a Monday other than the fact that our air conditioner croaked on us. I'm trying to think positive though. At least we've had a cool front. A week ago we had 115 degree temps and the low's at night never got below 95 degrees. Today our high was in the upper 80's. Not bad for August!!
I think the cool weather is making everyone feel better. My dog Mazie ran and played yesterday and I haven't seen her that happy and care-free in weeks! My plants are coming back from the brink of death too.
I've also grilled a few times. I'm not quite sure if I'm breaking the law since there is a state-wide burn ban. I hope not. It sure is nice to be able to cook outside again without having a heat stroke.
I went to Norman last week to go see my girl. I didn't get to see that much of her because she was working hard on recruitment for her sorority. But I did get to grab a couple of quick meals with her and she spent the night with me one night. I had no idea how hard those girls in the sororities work to get new pledges. Weeks of preparation go into cleaning and decorating their houses and also go into how to greet people to make them feel welcome. They work on chants, songs, skits... it really is a cool thing to see. I got to go for a parents night which doubled as a practice run for them. They chanted us in the door and then performed for us. It was so cool. I had tears in my eyes. I'm just so glad that my kids get to have that kind of life experience. It is something that she'll treasure forever.
On my way through Tulsa I stopped at Bodean's Fresh Seafood Market and stocked up on some seafood. We really are blessed to have such a place here in central Oklahoma. The food is flown in daily and it is so good. I got a side of king salmon, some tuna steaks, halibut, and shrimp.
I have a couple of recipes to post and will get those up soon!
On a side note.. I've had to post-pone dieting until I can get back to my doctor. I don't know if I'm having side effects of medication or what.. but my heart rate has been completely off the charts. So, I've decided to just take it easy until I can get back in to see my doc. Have my thyroid checked again, etc. I'm still watching what I eat but just wasn't feeling very goo
